HELPING HAND HIKE I SATURDAY, JUNE 6TH; 9AM-11AM
Celebrate National Trails Day by helping us expand and improve the trail system at Mill Ridge Park while connecting with other community members! Volunteers will take an approximately 3-mile guided hike of the park, serving as trail crew for the afternoon while learning about sustainable trail building techniques.
Activities involve hiking, bending, lifting, and the use of hand tools, and include: planning, measuring, mapping, and marking primitive trails; picking up and removing litter and debris from the trails; performing brushing activities with loppers, pruners, and weed wrenches; and moving downed trees and branches from trail to maintain proper corridor and prevent shortcutting.
We strive to make Friends of Mill Ridge Park a place where everyone can participate and feel included. If you have any accommodation requests or concerns, please contact amy@millridgepark.org.
